DVD review: Suburban Holocaust Reel Splatter Volume 1

First I´d like to Reel Splatter Productions for sending me a screener.
Suburban Holocaust Reel Splatter Volume 1 is a compilation of short films from Reel Splatter Productions, a small independent film troupe based in East Petersburg. PA. I won´t go into plot details but Suburban Holocaust Reel Splatter Volume 1 consists of 10 different short films spanning 2006- 2012 and there is plenty of extras including advice for aspiring indie filmmakers. Overall the acting is decent and it´s very tongue in cheek. The camerawork and editing is good while the soundtrack is very good. There is a lot of humour in this, some of it are of the bad taste flavour and let´s just say that this ain´t for the politically correct. I laughed out loud several times. The filmmakers have a lot of love for the horror genre and it shows as they play with the conventions and the viewers expectations. It´s gory, it´s all practical fx and some of it looks really good especially in the last short film, Long Pig. No T & A in this.
This review is based upon the region 1 DVD release from Reel Splatter Productions, it can be bought at http://www.reelsplatter.com/ .
Rating: 6 out of 7. I enjoyed this, sure some of the shorts are not as good as the rest but for the most part this is very funny and entertaining. I look forward to see more from Reel Splatter Productions!
Now go visit http://www.reelsplatter.com/, buy a copy and help support true independent filmmaking.
