DVD review: Blood Trails (2006)

Anne (Rebecca Palmer) and Michael (Tom Frederic) have problems in their relationship, and to solve them, they decide to go on a cycling holiday in the mountains. What Michael does not know is that Anne recently been unfaithful with a guy named Chris (Ben Price). What Anne does not know is that Chris is a demented serial killer who wants her for himself. Blood Trails is written by Florian Puchert, Kai Schneppel and Robert Krause who also is the director. It is German flick intended for the international market so all characters speak english. The acting is pretty good. It´s professionally shot and edited. The locations are very good. Blood Trails has its flaws, for instance there are some scenes that are lacking continuity and in one or two scenes I really do start to question the sanity of the Anne character as she makes some incredibly stupid choices but we might be able to explain it by her having a nervous breakdown. There is gore and quite a lot of blood, the make-up fx are practical.. There is T & A, sexual situations and implied rape in this.
This review is based upon the swedish region 2 DVD release from Cinematic Vision
Rating: 3½ out of 7. I enjoyed this,  not bad at all. It looks very good but it is somewhat hampered by some flaws and characters that I find myself having difficulties feeling sympathy for...
