DVD review: Snow Shark: Ancient Snow Beast (Video 2011)

12 years ago during a scientific expedition 3 animal biologists stumbled upon a great discovery that ended in tragedy. Whatever killed them has awoken and now the legend of the Ancient Snow Beast could prove to be more than just a legend! Snow Shark: Ancient Snow Beast is written and directed by Sam Qualiana. The acting is intentionally bad, at least I hope that it is. The camerawork and editing is poor if not downright shoddy. Even if it´s under 79 minutes it had problems keeping me interested, I couldn´t care less if the characters lived or died but to be fair you won´t be watching this for the characters, to see them fight and overcome the shark. We´re here to watch the shark. There´s a mix of both cheaplooking practical and computer rendered fx that are laughably bad. We even get some some miniature-work when the shark popps it's head up through the snow. Most of it looks hilarously funny...  There some gore but a lot of the kills happen off screen. There is some gratuitous female topless nudity, courtesy of a hot tub party.
This review is based upon the region all (Region 0) DVD release from Independent Entertainment.
Rating: 1½ out of 7. It´s bad, real bad but when picking up a flick with the title Snow Shark: Ancient Snow Beast you probably already know that it is gonna be hilarious, the question is if it is hilarious in a good or bad way? Well, this is a flick that is intended for the die-hard crowd that enjoy "so bad that its good" flicks while everyone else probably should avoid it like the plague.
