DVD review: Psychotica (Video 2006)

A fanatic medical student has developed a serum that causes extremely realistic visions. When a young woman who is a subject of his, begins taking the serum, she has terrifying visions of her own death. Psychotica is written, shot, produced and directed by Sebastian Radtke who also plays a part in the film. The pacing is appropriate and the acting is average. The camera work and editing is good, the soundtrack is mostly very fitting to the on screen proceedings and even though Psychotica obviously is made on a limited budget it is well made. There is some gore as the woman dies gruesomely in her visions and the special fx is decent.
The review is based on the DVD released by Maximum Uncut Productions, it´s a limited edition of 1000 copies, mine is sadly not numbered (guess someone forgot). The release is uncut, it has no subtitles but there is english audio available.
Rating: 5½ out of 7. Psychotica is another nice effort by Sebastian Radtke who is quickly becoming one of my favorite german independent film directors, with this film and the excellent Sadisticum he  displays real talent
