DVD review: Basic Slaughter (2007)
Rotary, Pennsylvania was a nice place to live.. until yesterday. A killer appeared without warning. He is on a murder spree, killing anyone he can. Anybody exposed will die. Basic Slaughter is written, edited and directed by Steve Rudzinsky. The acting is an atrocity, it´s badly shot and edited. The soundtrack might appeal to heavy metal fans but it´s total wrong for this kind o movie. There is NO atmosphere and no suspense. The whole flick consists of introducing characters, let them be on screen for a few minutes and then kill them off. The dialogue tries to be witty and tounge in cheek in the style of Wes Craven´s Scream series but fails due to the bad actors/actresses. There is gore, it´s cheap practical fx and it doesn´t look good and several of the kills occur off screen. There is some T & A in the beginning of the flick.
This review is based upon the All Regions DVD release from Createspace and is manufactured on demand when ordered from Amazon.com.
Rating: 0½ out of 7. I have to give them credit, they didn´t lie on the DVD cover, there´s no icon, no novelty, no twist... I´d like to add the following remarks; no coherent plot, abysmal acting and crappy make-up fx... Basic Slaughter feel very much like a hobby project made by a bunch of friends, sadly they are severly lacking in the skills of filmmaking...

I'm the director of Basic Slaughter. And I hate the movie, I think it's complete rubbish with no redeeming qualities short of the Killer idea.
ReplyDeleteIf people didn't keep buying it on Amazon I'd write it off completely, this review is pretty spot on. At the time I really didn't know what I was doing and it shows in a big big way.
Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback!
