DVD review: Sweet Karma (2009)
Karma Balint (Shera Bechard) is a shy, mute Russian girl whose sister Anna (Patricia Stasiak) left for Canada with bright hopes of making some money for the two of them. When Karma discovers that Anna's body has been found in the woods, the apparent victim of a Russian mafia hit, Karma sets off to infiltrate the criminal underworld to avenge her sister. Her journey takes her through the twisted underbelly of society leaving behind death and mayhem in her wake. Sweet Karma is written by James Fler, Michael Paszt and Andrew Thomas Hunt who also is the director. It´s a dark and gritty film, profesionally shot and edited. The soundtrack which consist of electronic music is quite good. The acting is strong and Shera Bechard gives a amazing performance, she manages to be tough, vulnerable and incredibly sexy all at the same time. The action and fight scenes are really well done, it isn´t very gory or bloody but it´s brutal and the gore make-up fx that are on display are good. There is some nice t & a which is hardly surprising considering the topic, there are several good looking women in this film and Shera Bechard is really hot looking.
This review is based upon the region 1 DVD release from Phase 4 Films.
Rating: 7 out of 7. Sweet Karma delivers exactly what it promises. It´s a great little vigilante flick, engaging plot, characters you care about, a few twists, gritty and brutal violence, a bit of nudity etc. Definitely recommended!
