DVD review: Zombie Abomination: The Italian Zombie Movie - Part 1 (2010)
While investigating the death of his twin brother, a special forces veteran, a sexy psychic, an evil succubus, her oafish boyfriend, two mysterious aliens and the Michigan Militia inadvertently join forces in a landfill of the living dead. Zombie Abomination: The Italian Zombie Movie - Part 1 is written and directed by Thomas Berdinski. This is a homage to the old italian zombie films of the 1980s with references to The House by the Cemetery, The Beyond, The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue and City of the Living Dead, it´s a film made by fans for fans. Several of the characters are named after famous directors, the zombies look like old school zombies and so on.This is a micro budget feature, a lot of , mostly, intentional bad acting, decent camera work and editing. The zombie make-up fx are very good and creepy. There is some gore and the gore make-up fx are standard indie fare.
This review is based upon region all DVD released by The Cult of Moi and Vous Film Producioni Company LLC.
Rating: 2 out of 7. Zombie Abomination: The Italian Zombie Movie - Part 1 Have some difficulty rating this, I believe some viewers will hate it but I thought it was absurd, charming, smart and funny. It´s totally crazy and offers a a lot of unexpected twists and turns. Check it out if you are a fan of the old italian zombie flicks but beware this film is NOT for everybody. A review of Zombie Atrocity: The Italian Zombie Movie - Part 2 will be published here on Independent Flicks in the very near future, so stay tuned.
