DVD review: The Summer of Massacre (2011)

The Summer of Massacre is written by Schroeder and Joe Castro who also is director, producer, actor, handles makeup and visual effects. It´s a anthology slasher film which presents eight killers in five gorefest tales.
* Rampage: Ungodly brutal beatings turn Chris (Tim A. Colley), a young man, into a fiend that sets off a bloody, like never before seen, rampage.
* Lump: Beauty is truly only skin deep - Watch a young paraplegic, whose body is also wrecked with spinal bifida, fight for her life as her older, beautiful sister tries to murder her.
* Son of the Boogeyman: It´s been 36 years since Jesse´s (Jerry G. Angelo) loving mother was raped by his biological father. Now, after hiding and running their entire lives in fear of this murderous rapist - He found them!
* Burn: A group of Christian teenagers are stalked, maimed and burned by a local legend in a haunted forest.
* The wrap-around story is about three legendary serial killers that terrorize downtown Los Angeles by murdering countless innocent souls and the killer plan is to go out with a real bang.
The pacing is extremely fast, the camera work and editing actually isn´t that bad but the HEAVY use of CGI completely ruins it, the acting is bad and the soundtrack is annnoying.
The films main selling point is it´s outrageous body count and it´s gore. While I do admit that there are some unique (but mainly stupid) kills in it there is hardly any practical fx at all, 99.5 % of the blood and gore is computer generated, in the style of cartoonish animation which looks really horrible .
There is male full frontal nudity but no female nudity at all.
This review is based upon the region 1 DVD release from Vicious Circle Films.
Rating: 0½ out of 7. It was hard sitting through  The Summer of Massacre beacuse it´s so ugly, the film makers probably thought they would do something new and innovative but it looks like shit! I think that the short stories do have potential but the film is so badly made, badly acted and the  computer generated fx is just abysmally bad. The Summer of Massacre is a really awful movie!
