DVD review: Popularity Killer (2011)

After a young girl is found murdered, a group of teens at Payton High must piece together the horrifying travesty. The teens soon discover the mysterious killer is praying on only the popular students in school. As their friends die one-by-one in the most gruesome ways possible, they realize that being "in" may not get them out alive. Popularity Killer is written by Kevin Sommerfield and is directed by Steve Goltz, it´s 20 minutes long slasher short film. The characters are well-known, acting is decent, good camerawork and editing. The killers outfit is reminiscent of Scream and Alice sweet Alice. The gore make-up fx, all practical, looks good but there are several kills that I think have potential to be much gorier but that´s just the gorehound in me speaking...
Fans of T & A will be dissapointed as the is zero nudity in this flick despite the film makers following the slasher formula.
This review is based upon the Slasher Studios release, it´s region free and unrated. It can be bought from their website http://www.slasherstudios.com/
Rating: 5 out of 7. Popularity Killer is pretty good and if you are a fan of slasher flicks it´s defintely worth checking out.
