Review: Symphony in Blood Red (2010)
First I´d like to thank Marco M at EuroObsura for providing me with a screener.
During a psychoanalytic session, a psychologist suggests her patient to enter a specialized clinic, but her suggestion unleashes his latent madness. His delirium will drive him to kill once more, as it already happened in the past with his first lost love. After getting rid off psychologist´s corpse, he decides to carry on the "therapy" by himself recording his feelings in a crazy "crescendo" with a small camera. Symphony in Blood Red is written by Antonio Tentori and Luigi Pastore who also is the director. There are noticeable influences from Dario Argento´s work. It´s a good looking film being professionally shot and edited. The soundtrack by Claudio Simonetti is very good. The acting is pretty good. The film is violent and quite gory, the gore make-up fx are designed by Sergio Stivaletti but this isn´t a gorefeast, it´s more like a violent thriller. For fans of T & A there is some nudity.
This review is based upon a passwordprotected online screener provided by EuroObscura, it´s uncut and has english subtitles.
Rating: 6 out of 7. Symphony in Blood Red is highly recommended to fans of Dario Argento and the subgenre called giallo.
