Review: Tinsel (2012)

First I´d like to thank Mikel Ledesma for contacting me and providing me with a screener.
The story of an escaped psychopath finds it's way into a young woman's (Alisha Revel) nightmares, turning a seemingly normal christmas party into a whirlwind of psychological thrills and twists. Tinsel is written by Kensley Grant and Mikel Ledesma who also is the director. The acting is good, there is just one or two exceptions, I especially like Alisha Revel as Sarah who is the main character, she manages to show off a large amount of emotions and her performance is pretty impressive. The pacing is pretty high, there is never a dull moment and there is a fairly high bodycount. There is some gore, pretty good looking practical make-up fx, but for the most part it´s limited to just blood. No T & A in this.
This review is based upon a passwordprotected online screener provided by the director Mikel Ledesma.
Rating: 6 out of 7. Tinsel is a very nice and effective slasher in the short film format but the gorehound and slasher fan in me just wish that it would have had a little bit more of the nice, in effect messier gore and a bit of nudity. It´s a slasher after all... If you´re a horror fan and especially a fan of the slasher genre you should check out Tinsel.
