DVD review: Wicked Lake (2008)

Four beautiful but mysterious girls (Carlee Baker, Eryn Joslyn, Eve Mauro and Robin Sydney) embark on a road trip for a relaxing weekend getaway in the woods. Unbeknownst to them, two clans of deranged male misfits follow them to their secluded and picturesque lakeside cabin in the mountains. The girls appear to be easy prey for the predatory perverts until the fateful stroke of midnight when all hell, literally , breaks loose and the tables are turned. Wicked Lake is written by Chris Sivertson and Adam Rockoff and is directed by Zach Passero. The acting is pretty decent although there is one or two exceptions, it´s professionally shot and edited, the soundtrack is really good and the pacing is good. The comic relief don´t work at all for me, I don´t know why they choose to include it, it would have been better if they played it straight. Gorehounds will be pleased, it isn´t a gorefeast but it´s quite gory (both practical and some computer gendered fx) and it looks pretty good. Fans of T & A will enjoy Wicked Lake as there is plenty of female nudity (including full frontal) and  all four girls are really smoking-hot. The lesbian sexscenes among the girls are very sexy and well shot and and is on par with the sexscene from the flick Natasha featuring Algina Lipskis and Jenna Harrison.
This review is based upon the region 1 DVD release from Media Blasters Inc, it has not been rated.
Rating: 5½ out of 7. Wicked Lake gives us a new spin on the old rape/revenge genre with black magic, nudity, rape and gore... I liked but I just wish that they hadn´t included some comic relief as it doesn´t work and almost ruins the film. Wicked Lake should appeal to the exploitation crowd
